    • Tech rehearsals and performances - no absences.
  • PARENTS are a critical piece of our productions.  Parent Committees work together to support the show.  Some committees will work mostly before the show, some during Tech week and performances, others after the final bow.
CYT brings the best in children’s theater to students throughout the country. Literature from the classroom comes to life on stage in quality productions by performers ages 8 –18.

About CYT Shows

CYT produces Broadway-style musicals so our students can practice what they're learning in CYT Classes.  Students (ages 8-18) who are enrolled in a CYT class may audition for the current production(s).
There's something for everyone!  CYT LITE!, MainStage, and NextStage offer unique opportunities so you and your family can find the right fit.  Check them out below!
Consider our Student Musician program where musicians under 18 train to play in a pit band or orchestra and add their talents to a live musical theatre production.
Check out our Technical Theatre opportunities!  Students interested in learning how to support a show without going onstage can join the backstage crew, run a light or sound board, operate spotlights, or become a stage management intern.
And folks of all ages are welcome to bring their talents, time, and interest to our Production Committees:  Costumes, Hair & Makeup, Props, Set-building, Publicity, Posters & Programs, and more!
     Come join in the fun!

On the Lite Side!

CYT LITE shows are fully staged productions with a 'light' approach!  Performed at the Bankhead Theater, these shows have shorter run times, fewer performances and fewer weeks of rehearsal than our other productions.
Focusing on school performances, CYT LITE makes a great impact in our community with the excellence and artistry we're known for, but a lighter overall commitment for actor and family.  So whether you're interested in trying a CYT show for the first time or a busy family with lots of commitments to juggle, CYT Lite might be just the place for you!
  • Actors 8-18 years old
  • 6-7 week rehearsal period
  • Approx. 4 performances
  • One hour run time, typically
  • One evening of tech
  • Light tech needs (set, costumes, etc)

Check Out the MainStage...

CYT MainStage is our traditional shows.  With a mix of public and school performances, MainStage provides a well-rounded theatrical experience for actors and families.
Performed at the Bankhead Theater, these productions have a full-session rehearsal period, feature a live band or orchestra, and our largest number of performances; sometimes over two weekends.  If you're ready for a big adventure, CYT MainStage is where the fun is!
  • Actors 8-18 years old
  • 10-11 week rehearsal period
  • 6-10 performances
  • 2 hour run time, typically
  • 4 days of tech
  • Full Parent Committees
  • Live Band or Orchestra

What's Next for Teens?

CYT NextStage! is a teens-only program for students who are ready to raise the bar.
Performed at the Bankhead Theater, NextStage productions feature artistic elements, content, or experiences that challenge actors and require a greater commitment and maturity.  With a smaller cast size than our other programs, NextStage actors will be mentored and evaluated through the rehearsal process with an intent to help grow them both artistically and personally.  Dedication to both the project and one another will be the hallmarks of a NextStage cast.  Are you ready for what's NEXT?
*Note, NextStage productions may have more mature themes or content than our other programs.  Make sure you read all audition material and show announcements before auditioning or attending a performance.  Reach out to the Artistic Director with any questions.
  • Actors 13-18 years old
  • 10-11 week rehearsal period
  • 5-6 performances
  • 2 hour run time, typically
  • 4 days of tech
  • Full Parent Committees
  • Live Band or Orchestra
  • Raise the bar!

Calling All Student Musicians!

CYT Tri-Valley is proud to offer the opportunity for student musicians to be part of our stage productions.  Whether a show calls for a pit band or full orchestra, working with fellow musicians to perform a musical score is a truly exciting experience!
Students audition, just as the actors do, and then rehearse together under the direction of the production's conductor.  Rehearsals overlap with the actors, allowing everyone to work on the show together and make lasting friendships.  All shows have multiple performances and all are at the Bankhead Theater.

What a wonderful first show experience for Paige!...I'm sure this will be the first of many.
