Seussical, JR.  CYT LITE!
A Midsummer Night's Dream  CYT NextStage (13-18 yrs only)

AUDITIONS: December 3-5;  5:30-7:30pm @ Cornerstone, Livermore.  Invite your friends and family to cheer you on!
  • REQUIRED:  (NextStage, scroll down)  
    • MONOLOGUE no longer than 30 seconds
      • Any published content; TV, movie, musical, book...
      • Not from this season's shows
      • No original pieces
    • SONG no longer than 1 minute
      • Not from this season's shows
      • Musicals preferred
      • Upload an instrumental music file (no vocals) to your Audition Form;  i.e. YouTube link or other  
        • Add start/stop times; music cuts out at 1min
    • The CHOREOGRAPHY dance - [Scroll Down!]
      • You'll dance with a group of other actors

CASTING:  Cast lists sent on or before Dec. 8 @ 7pm
  • All roles for Seussical, JR
  • A list of the NextStage26 Company Members (no roles) for A Midsummer Night's Dream
  • Actors who are cast may NOT change their appearance (hair cuts/color, piercings, etc) without permission of the Show's Director.
NextStage (ages13-18):  Read about NextStage HERE
  • Actors who ONLY want to be considered for Midsummer, DO NOT have to sing at auditions. Present a monologue and the choreo dance.  
    • Instead of singing, you may add a 2nd monologue; total time not to exceed 1 min. 30 sec. Any monologue style, but contrasting in some way.
    • FYI: In our production of Midsummer, Oberon, Bottom, Puck, and the Fairies will sing. We'll do this at callbacks
  • SONNETS:  ALL ACTORS who are called back for Midsummer will perform a Shakespeare sonnet.
    • We STRONGLY encourage advance preparation
    • Focus the meaning;  memorization is not required, but encouraged
    • Find a list of Shakespeare’s sonnets HERE; do not choose a sonnet with inappropriate words. 

Commitment

Rehearsals: @ Cornerstone
Actors are called for a specific block of time within the rehearsal period.  An 'All-Company Break' is included in every rehearsal when both casts take a break together

  • A Midsummer Night's Dream: Dec. 12/13 - Mar. 6/7 (No rehearsal Dec. 26/27)
2 Mandatory Parent Meetings Parents help with major needs for the show via assigned committees: Costumes, Props, Makeup/Hair, Sets, or Tech. One parent is required to attend parent meetings and participate in committee work.

  • A Midsummer Night's Dream:  5 performances 
    • Thurs. Mar. 12 @ 6:30pm
    • Fri. Mar. 13 @ 6:30pm
    • Sat. Mar. 14 @ 1pm & 6:30pm
    • Sun. Mar. 15 @ 1pm

CONFLICTS:  Students must submit ALL known conflicts prior to auditioning
  • All conflicts are considered during casting.
  • ALL decisions are at the discretion of the Artistic Team.  
  • Commit to the show; keep absences to a minimum.
  • Unlisted absences may result in changes to an actor's responsibilities in a dance, a scene, a role, or the show. This is not a punishment; it is the nature of the pace of our rehearsal schedule and the importance we place on actors' assignments.  
  • Final/Dress rehearsals, Tech rehearsals, and all Performances are mandatory

    • Fri/Sat Mar. 6-7: Final Rehearsals
    • Mon. Mar. 9 @ 4pm-9pm:  Load-In
    • Mon - Wed. Mar. 9 - 11:  Tech
    • Thurs. Mar. 12 @ 6:30pm: 1 show
    • Fri. Mar. 13 @ 6:30pm: 1 show
    • Sat. Mar. 14 @ 1pm & 6:30pm: 2 shows
    • Sun. Mar. 15 @ 1pm: 1 show
PRODUCTION FEE --   $325 for CYT LITE! / $400 for CYT NextStage
  • Includes Show shirt, Cast photo, Strike party for actor
  • Due before first rehearsal.  Families participating in A Midsummer Nights Dream have the option to split into two payments, pay 1/2 before the 1st rehearsal and 1/2 a month later. Seussical JR. families do not have this option due to the short production cycle
