This class is full!
Small ensemble singing is super fun, but it has its challenges–you must be sensitive to the other singers (like an ensemblist) and still hold your own (like a soloist.)
In this class, we will learn how to make your duets, trios, and quartets shine! We will work on singing and listening techniques, discuss homophony vs. polyphony, and apply it all to our songs.
This class is designed for INTERMEDIATE LEVEL singers. It is best if you have had some singing experience, especially in a group. Please come to the first class prepared to sing a song a cappella (without accompaniment).
AGE POLICY: This class is designed for students 12-18. Students must be at least 12 years old by the first day of class. Staff monitors registration and will disenroll any student who doesn't fit the required age range. Classes fill quickly, so space in another class may not be available. Please make sure your student is the correct age before registering.
Rita Baird is a piano teacher and mother of 8. She was in her high school production of Fiddler on the Roof and has loved the stage ever since. She is a graduate of Monte Vista High School (in Danville) and UC Berkeley, where she studied music and sang in the University Chorus, Chamber Chorus, and madrigal group. More recently, she was music director for CYT's Peter and the Starcatcher and assistant vocal director for High School Musical and The Lightning Thief. Rita plays on the worship team at Valley Bible Church, and she especially loves making music with others and singing a new song to the Lord!
