Description

Broadway Bound: Schoolhouse Rock LIVE!

Develop your acting, dancing, and singing skills as we mount a mini production of "Schoolhouse Rock: LIVE", the classic off Broadway musical based on the beloved 1970s cartoon series. This hilarious and energetic show features songs like "3 Is A Magic Number", "A Noun is a Person, Place, or Thing", and "Conjunction Junction" and has great parts for everyone. In this class we'll play theater games, practice ensemble and solo singing, discover how to give a fantastic audition, learn about the history of musical theater, have fun experimenting with improv, and much more - all while rehearsing a seven minute version of "Schoolhouse Rock: LIVE." Whether you're brand new to theater or you've been in 20 shows - this class is for you!

please note:  NO CLASS on Tuesday, October 7th.

Teacher:

Jennifer Sloat

Jenny Sloat was first bitten by the theater bug at age 11 when she was cast as "Ratty" in "The Wind in the Willows." She spent her middle and high school years performing in community theater productions around the East Bay and then moved over to the director's chair after graduating from Biola University. She ran a free kids' community theater program for over a decade while serving as Director of Children’s Ministries at Creekside Community Church in San Leandro and has recently directed shows for her homeschool co-op. Jenny loves theater because of the confidence it builds, the friendships it develops, and how it gives every kid the opportunity to showcase their unique talents and gifts! Some of Jenny’s favorite things include homeschooling her 3 kids, hanging out with her husband, exploring Bay Area museums, leading kids’ Bible studies, Disneyland, and drinking way too much hot chocolate.
