Description

Did you know–what makes a show truly excellent is not the leads, but the ensemble?! The ensemble is not just "background"; it's foundational in a show!! In an ensemble-heavy show like "The Wizard of "Oz", it is the ensemble that sets the stage and brings the world of Oz to life for the audience.

In this singing and acting class, we will work on developing a character and applying it to a specific scene. In our showcase, we will be performing two songs from "Oliver!"

*Class students who are cast in Wizard of Oz are expected to attend their CYT class weekly.  More than one class absence may affect the student's casting/participation in the show; a scene, a dance, a role, or the show.

Rita Baird

Rita Baird is a piano teacher, writer, and mother of 9. She was in her high school production of Fiddler on the Roof and has loved the stage ever since. She is a graduate of Monte Vista High School (in Danville) and UC Berkeley, where she studied music and sang in the University Chorus, Chamber Chorus, and madrigal group. More recently, she wrote a new musical based on E. Nesbit's classic novel "Five Children and It". Rita plays on the worship team at Valley Bible Church, and she especially loves making music with others and singing a new song to the Lord!
