Description

Clowning + Assorted Scene Work for Teens

In this class we’ll explore the different elements of clowning, including mining, slapstick comedy, and circus tricks!

We will ALSO hone our acting skills through workshopping different types of scenes and monologues. From drama, to comedy, romance, to broadway, students will learn to  adapt their acting and character style to fit different situations and themes.

*Class students who are cast in Wizard of Oz are expected to attend their CYT class weekly.  More than one class absence may affect the student's casting/participation in the show; a scene, a dance, a role, or the show.

Teacher:

Jordan Higby

Jordan Higby is 25 years old and has been a teaching artist at CYT Tri-Valley intermittently since 2016. Jordan’s passion for the arts began at age 6 when she began dancing ballet at Livermore School of Dance. Now, almost 20 years later, ballet remains an integral part of who she is, so much so that she is now a ballet teacher on staff at Livermore School of Dance herself! Aside from dance, Jordan is also an actor at heart, with a passion for comedy. In fact, she planned to major in Comedic Arts in college, until the major got eliminated from her school right before she began. Jordan graduated from California Baptist University in May of 2022 with academic honors with a Bachelors of Arts in Communication Studies. She is currently earning her Masters of Arts in Strategic Communication through CBU’s Online Professional Studies Program. Her end goal is working in Social Services in the division of Child Welfare. No matter where her professional life takes her, she hopes to always have the time to teach and guide the next generation of performers!
