Class Description

This class introduces the youngest CYT students to the fundamentals of musical theater while performing in a safe, encouraging environment.
Our young actors will explore movement, music, and storytelling while learning the fundamental skills necessary to move on to youth level classes. Our heart is to develop character and confidence as they are introduced to the joy of theater arts!

This class is all about play:  playing with music, playing with body movement, playing with facial expressions. Would you like to learn how to use your voice and body to convey a story or make music? Each week we will focus on moving our bodies and playing with our voices as we dive into the world of fairy tale operas, voguing, body percussion, beat boxing, and more!  Online Showcase June 1.

NOTE: Parental help will be needed to record snippets of your young performer at home to present at the virtual showcase.

Teacher:

Barbara Cady

Loving to sing and dance, Barbara, affectionately known as Rapper KD within CYT, participated in ballet, jazz, clogging and choirs growing up. She has sung at weddings, in church choirs, and on worship teams over the past 30 years. Currently, Rapper KD sings locally with Chorus Eclectic in the Tri-Valley area. Prior to raising and homeschooling her three kids, she was a Marriage and Family Therapist, working specifically with children and their families. One of her favorite parts of CYT is being the HYPE advisor to an extraordinary group of teen leaders.
