Class Description

Perform with skill and precision!  Learn how articulation, phrasing, dynamics and word stress affect your delivery and the mood of a song. How does musical theater differ from bubble-gum pop, sweeping ballads, hymns and hip-hop, or does it? Explore and sing some of musical theater’s catchiest tunes while strengthening your vocal confidence.

Teacher:

Dan Floyd

Dan Floyd is new to CYT as a teacher, but not to musical theater! He has spent several years singing with community and church choirs, most recently with Tri-Valley Repertory Theatre's Broadway Chorus. He has had the pleasure of directing three different groups and loves to both sing and hear good music. Professionally, Dan works as a baker, and his own Dan Good Cookies have been a favorite at CYT shows and events, thanks to his generous donations! He lives in Livermore with his husband David, and he can often be found singing while he works. While it has been quite some time since he performed in a proper musical, he is excited to share his love of music and the joy it can bring.
