This class introduces young CYT students to the fundamentals of musical theater while performing in a safe, encouraging environment.
Our young actors will explore movement, music, and storytelling while learning the fundamental skills necessary to move on to youth level classes. Young actors will learn theater terminology, stage direction and practice these concepts in high entery games and activities designed to reinforce the lessons. Our goal is to develop character and confidence as they prepare a performance number for our end of session showcase and get their first glimpse at the joy of the stage!
Berkley Skillicorn studied Arts Management at William Jessup University in Rocklin, California. During the time at her university she was an assistant lighting designer, props assistant, and worked with the media team running sound and video for various events and chapel services. She has also worked alongside many children's productions doing set design, and costuming. Berkley recently worked as a theater technician at the Dean Lesher Center for the Arts in Walnut Creek, where she ran lighting, sound, and spotlights. She would love to have the opportunity to share her love for theater with the students in her CYT classes.
